"Vegetable Collection Centre at Chhap Beings to Function"
SAFII constructed truss based collection centre at Chhap for Namuna Chautara and Nawajagaran Farmers Group and jointly inaugurated under the presence of local government representative, PWJ/ISAP and local community on October 2, 2019. The collection centre has recently started coming to function from November 8, 2019.
Collection of seasonal and off-season vegetables such as tomato, cauliflower, radish, capsicum, beans etc. is done every day from 4 PM to 6 PM in the evening. Mr Kumar Shrestha and Mr Khadak Bahadur Shrestha have taken the responsibility of collection. They weight the farmers vegetable production and keep the record of the amount of vegetable brought by farmers and their respective price. The daily market price is written on the rate list of collection centre and farmers get the price as per the list.
Before the collection centre was established farmers had to carry their produced vegetables to the market by themselves and the price was not ensured as well. With the establishment of this centre not only they are ensured to get the market price but can also save a lot of time and effort hard way applied to sell those vegetables.
Till date, 19 farmers have been bringing their produce daily to the collection centre. The minimum quantity of one product taken from a farmer till date is 400 gram. The payment for the farmers produce is done after 15 days for now but they are planning to make the payment every week. They are further planning to bring the vegetables from other Farmers Group (FG's) if the local produce will not be sufficient to meet the market demand.
We are very hopeful for its success and maximum utility by our beneficiaries.
