Three Water Supply Schemes constructed in the first year of Project for Improving Water Access and Agriculture Income (PIWAAI) have been officially handed over to the respective community and local level government during the Inauguration and Handover Ceremony conducted on August 7,2021. The program which saw presence of representatives of Water Users’ Committees, Chairperson of Balefi Rural Municipality and Ward Chairperson, was conducted following all the safety protocols while complying with directive issued by District Administration Office, Sindhupalchowk. The local government including the beneficiaries committed to safeguard the built water supply structures from here on and thanked the project team for helping the community in increasing their access to safe drinking water. Total of 96 households have benefitted from the project constructed water supply schemes (Intakes, RVTs and individual tap-stands).
Note: PIWAAI is a three-year project which aims to improve access to drinking water and agriculture income of beneficiaries of Sindhupalchowk district. PIWAAI is funded by Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Japan and jointly implemented by PWJ and ISAP. The project completed its first year of operation on August 31, 2021. Currently, the project is being implemented in Sunkoshi Rural Municipality, Balefi Rural Municipality and Melamchi Municipality of the district.
