Sita Subedi had almost succumbed to the pests that had invaded her crops, until she participated in Nursery Management Training under Project for Improving Water Access and Agriculture Income (PIWAAI). The Nursery Management Training of Winter Season Vegetables which was conducted with an aim to disseminate the fundamentals of nursery management to the Kalinchok Farmer’s Group at 7 kilo, Sunkoshi RM-06, Sindhupalchok, also enabled the farmers to get hands on training on preparing nursery beds and sowing the seeds. In addition, the farmers also learned about different factors of infestation and prevention against them as well as efficient ways of soil treatment. Kalinchok Farmer’s Group after receiving the training, have more time available for the preparation of their main field with better production rate.
28 Farmer’s Group of Sunkoshi, Melamchi, and Balefi Rural Municipality of Sindhupalchok District have been provided with the Nursery Management Training of Winter Season Vegetables. The training equipped the farmers with applied knowledge on the basics of nursery, seed sowing techniques, various soil treatment methods, pest and disease identification and its management, and transplanting methods of seedlings.
