SAFII had been organizing various exposure visits in different places within the country for the project beneficiary farmers but this time, on the 30th of July, 2019, beneficiary farmers got this new opportunity to have their first international exposure visit to Japan which was a part of the Activity included in SAFII.
Since both Nepal and Japan are mountainous countries with an increasing trend of depopulation in the context of agriculture, steps reflected in Japan's strategic planning to lessen the depopulation in terms of agriculture was an extremely important indicator of the visit as Nepal is suffering from the same as well. The team comprising of the SAFII team of 8 people, 4 farmers, 2 project staffs, 1 government official and 1 translator traveled two prefectures namely Hiroshima and Shimane of Japan to showcase the agricultural practices adopted in Japan’s depopulated areas which can be easily replicated in our beneficiaries field i.e Sindhupalchowk.
To share the visit experience, a visit review workshop has been planned for November 12, 2019, with an aim to disperse experience and exposure of the participant farmers among other fellow farmers.
ISAP is thankful to JICA and PWJ for providing such a great opportunity for our beneficiaries and staffs which we are sure will have a multiplier effect.
