On February 6, 2023, 18 Village Maintenance Workers from all five schemes of Year 3 attended a five-day Village Maintenance Workers training held at the Fyafulla Ground in Dadagaun. While two schemes have been completed and other schemes are ongoing, VMW training was provided to those members of the Water Supply Schemes who are motivated to stay in their own village to ensure the project's sustainability. The training's main objective was to introduce village maintenance workers to proper quality control techniques and routine preventive maintenance measures of the WSS.
The project team demonstrated the basic tools and techniques, as well as various concepts, used in the Water Supply Scheme to the participants. The first day was divided into four sessions, with the project team delivering sessions on Introduction to WSS, which included Types, Lift, Gravity, and Components, followed by different types of pipes used in the scheme. Similarly, participants learned about the different pipe fittings as well. Finally, group work on pipe fittings and tools was conducted.
Day 2 will take place tomorrow, February 7th, 2023, and will demonstrate practical methods.
