On 28 and 29 June 2023, the Local Level Project Advisory Committee (LPAC) meeting was conducted at Melamchi Municipality, and Balefi and Sunkoshi Rural Municipality, Sindhupalchok, respectively. Both meetings were followed by a field visit to the project beneficiary’s farm and Water User Community to witness the successful implementation of the “Project for Improving Water Access and Agriculture Income”. The meeting at Melamchi was chaired by Mr. Aitaman Tamang, Chairperson of the Melamchi Municipality, and by Mr. Bal Krishna Shrestha, Sindhupalchok District Coordination Committee Chief at Balefi in the presence of the Chairperson of Balefi Rural Municipality, Mr. Ganga Bahadur Tamang, and respective ward chairpersons of Melamchi Municipality, and Balefi and Sunkoshi Rural Municipality, municipality agriculture officers, press, and other stakeholders.
ISAP and PWJ expressed their gratitude to the local government for their continuous support in successfully implementing the project in the area. The local government, in turn, commended the organization for its dedicated work in increasing the farmer’s income through agriculture and providing access to clean drinking water, a fundamental right. The meeting concluded with the local governments pledging to contribute in their capacity to ensure the project’s sustainability and requesting an extension of the project, utilizing the locally allocated budget as well.
This commitment reflects their willingness to support and continue the positive impact of the project in the long run.
