Did you know that Nepal loses approximately 35% of production due to pest attacks in the field and storage conditions? Farmers of PIWAAI alike encounter a significant obstacle in pest identification and its management curbing the productivity of agricultural systems that ensures food security.
Addressing this concern, the first part of the two-day Refresher Leader Farmers Training II was organized for 27 farmers at Melamchi Municipality, Sindhupalchok on 12 and 13 June 2023. The training, facilitated by Agriculture Expert Dinesh Babu Tiwari, provided both classroom learning with hands-on experience which enhanced the participants' understanding and competence in identifying and managing major insect pests and diseases effectively and sustainably. "Pesticides are substances designed to eliminate pests, safeguarding plants from molds, fungi, rodents, noxious weeds, and insects," said Tiwari, emphasizing the importance of understanding the distinction between medicine and pesticides.
